BDO events usually arrive in one flavor: log in, collect, forget. Season of the Hunt is the rare one that demands a plan, because its three best windows do not overlap — the boss boost, the EXP fever, and the pouch event each reward a different kind of play, and doing all three badly will just exhaust you. The good news: the windows are stacked so that one main focus at a time is the correct play.
What Season of the Hunt actually is
| Window | Dates (NA/EU) | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Trina Knights First Captains Support Kit | Sept 25 - Oct 23 | 7-day trial kit with a top-tier weapon and accessory feel for eligible players (lvl 56/58+) |
| Fever Time | Sept 25 - Oct 8 | +200% combat EXP, +30% skill EXP |
| World-boss double drop | First two weeks | Double drop rate on Garmoth, Vell, Kzarka, Nouver, Kutum, Offin Tett, Karnada |
| Special challenges | First two weeks | Draught, EXP scroll, food and item-collection boxes for playtime |
| Special Pouch drop | Oct 2 onward | Event pouches for combat, gathering and fishing that can yield upgrade items |
The whole series runs on a three-week cadence announced alongside the regular Sept 24-25 patch, with some pieces lasting into late October. Regional maintenance can shift a date by a day — the pattern above is the one to plan around.
The two-week world-boss double drop
For the first two weeks, seven of the most-farmed bosses in the game — Garmoth, Vell, Kzarka, Nouver, Kutum, Offin Tett and Karnada — drop their signature items at double rate. If you have ever rotated world boss alts for a chance at a Garmoth's Heart or a Nouver scale, this is the window where that rotation pays twice per kill.
The honest math: double drop rate does not double your income — it doubles the variance in your favor over a fixed number of kills. The play is to maximize kills in the window with whatever alts you already have parked at spawn points, not to create a brand-new boss army from scratch this week.
The EXP fever — and why it is the real prize
The +200% combat EXP and +30% skill EXP fever runs from Sept 25 straight to Oct 8 — and Oct 8 is the maintenance where the level cap opens from 70 to 75, with each level from 70 granting +3 AP against monsters and +3 monster damage reduction. The fever window is, in effect, the leveling runway that Pearl Abyss designed for the cap raise.
If you have been waiting for a reason to push a character to 70, this is the reason, and the timing is not a coincidence. Stack it with the EXP scrolls, draughts, food and Villa buffs you already own — multipliers stack with fever time, and this is the one week of the season where using your best buffs is mathematically justified.
A farming plan that does not burn you out
- Week one (Sept 25 - Oct 1): boss focus. Run your existing world-boss rotation for the double drops while the fever is still young; use the first days to knock out the special-challenge playtime boxes, which also feed you draughts and EXP scrolls for the fever.
- Week two (Oct 2 - Oct 8): leveling focus. The pouch event starts, the boss boost is winding down, and the cap raise is days away — this is the window to burn the fever on your main or tag pair. Everything you bank here converts into the 70-75 stat bonuses a week later.
- After Oct 8: reassess. The fever ends with the cap raise; the Trina kit and pouch items keep running, but the pressure is off. Do not force a third week of intensity.
The pattern is the plan: one focus per window. Players who try to boss-rotate, level, and pouch-hunt simultaneously for three weeks will hit the Oct 8 cap raise tired and half-finished; players who sequence it finish the season with both money and levels.
The Oct 2 pouch drop and the life-skill angle
From Oct 2, the event adds special pouches that drop for combat, gathering and fishing activities and can randomly yield upgrade items. If you are a life-skill player, this is your window — but treat it as a passive bonus. The pouch drop is RNG layered on top of activities you were already doing, and chasing it as a primary activity is how events stop being worth your time.
One practical note for gatherers: the September patch also ran a Gathering Pass event with perks through early October, and the Path of Gatherer and Path of Trainer tracks ran through Sept 17. Check your active event list before you stack buffs — life-skill events in September overlap more than usual, which is good for you but easy to lose track of.
The bottom line
Season of the Hunt is a sequencing puzzle, not a content dump. Boss alts in the first two weeks, a leveling push into the Oct 8 cap raise, and life-skill pouches as a bonus after that — one focus per window is the entire strategy.
Mark Sept 25, check which of your alts are parked at Garmoth and friends, and decide now which character gets the fever. The players who treat this event as a calendar rather than a grind will be the ones with both the silver and the levels when October arrives.
