Returning players are BDO's favorite customers — not for Pearl Abyss, but for the grind. You come back excited, over-spend on the wrong Pearl items, and grind the wrong spots. This page is the opposite: a ranked list of where your hours and pearls should actually go.

Season server / Tuvala gear — free, near-endgame-equivalent gear. The single biggest catch-up win.
Main quest + Black Spirit quests — free skill points, inventory, weight, silver.
Daily/weekly scrolls you skipped — passive progression you left on the table.
One life skill to T1 mastery — a steady silver floor while you gear up.

Don't do these yet

Tapping endgame gear on day one — you'll burn silver you don't have.
Buying "starter packs" at full price — wait for sales; most are mid.
Chasing the newest grind spot — you're under-geared; it'll underpay.
Every limited event "deal" — FOMO is the most expensive thing in BDO.

The cheat code

Season servers: free gear that nearly catches you up

If you're returning and behind on gear, the season server is the fastest equalizer in the game. You grind Tuvala gear to a high level for free, then graduate it into the regular economy. It removes the "I'm years behind, I'd have to whale" problem entirely.

Verdict: If you're below around 600 gear score and returning, do a season character before touching your main. It's the highest-value time you can spend.

The catch: season gear has rules (no marketplace, specific enhancement). Follow the season guide, not your nostalgia. The point is the graduation, not the journey.
